In 2017, an oil pipeline was routed through Sioux treaty land & was to be constructed beneath the Missouri river. Not only would this pose a major risk to water contamination, but it would destroy sacred native burial grounds as well. Some friends and I came out to bring donations and to document the ensuing protests. The decision to proceed with construction has since been overruled, resulting in a rare victory for the Indigenous Peoples in their unending fight for rights.
